Giving has always been a priority for us. We believe that we have a call to invest what we can. So, from the very start, we have consistently partnered with organizations that we know are making a huge difference in the world:
Herbert Crossroads Church proudly partner with Shine Outreach Ministries Uganda. Shine does incredible work in order to help those in need of food, education and medical care in Busia.
Soul Edge Ministries, as part of Herbert Crossroads Church has partnered with Shine since 2007. In 2018 a team from Crossroads went to serve, connect and encourage those who lend their lives to this incredible charity, including MP Pastor Geoffery Macho and his wife Harriet.
Recently there was an urgent need to upgrade the water supply at one of the Shine outreach schools. We are happy to report that we were able to raise the funds and the work began immediately, helping the school stay open- which also feeds most of its students.
We are proud to have been supporting Mercy Touch International in Zambia since the early 2000s. We believe that our consistency really matters when it comes to partnering with such essential ministries.
The name "Mercy Touch Mission" speaks to touching the needy and vulnerable with mercy. Our purpose is to touch families in need and impact their community, one child at a time. Through appropriate strategies and care, we hope to lessen the suffering that children experience as they deal with loss of parents or extended family members.
Basic education, family counselling, children's homes, a feeding program, micro-loans for business start-ups, a sustainable farm for food-production, and home-based sponsorship are some of the means through which Mercy Touch improves the lives of orphans and families at risk.
From 2010-2016 Joel and Joylyn Erb served as Missionaries and Church planters in Pelican Narrows Saskatchewan. Every year the Soul Edge Team (based at Crossroads) connected and invested in the beautiful Pelican Rising Church for 4 weeks, with another week and a half serving Carl and Regina Gustavson serving the community of Kenaston near Melfort.
We believe that leadership makes a huge difference. This is why we have been so thankful to have the opportunity to invest consistently in the Apostolic Fund of Dave Wells from Lifelinks International as he has impacted so many around the world. Dave used this fund to help fund pastors and church leaders who needed help and support especially in areas of poverty and persecution.
Here is some of Dave's testimony:
We also believe that the impact Soul Edge Ministries is having in the world is truly global in impact. We are proud to have been the Canadian home and the home church for Soul Edge International. We invited students from all around the world to train under Josh, Kiri and the Canada Team. In 2020 Soul Edge opened our New Zealand base. From little Herbert we have trained over 120 young leaders each intensively for 5 months at a time in our own town, community and house. After so many years of leading in Herbert, Josh and Kiri have relocated the Canada base to Vancouver Island where they now reside.
