During our Prayer Sunday, Andrea began this painting, and through it God reminded her of a powerful truth about how our beliefs shape our lives:
Some of you saw me start this painting a couple weeks ago at the encounter service. I started two paintings that morning, honestly not knowing what I would make and just hoping they would turn into something! Life is a lot like art to me in that way, I can have an idea, a plan, a sketch of how I think things should go but if it starts to change as I lay down paint I am learning to go with the creative stream of it and possibly create something new, exciting and full of life rather than the sometimes less than creative (safe) blueprint of what I thought up!
As this painting took shape I allowed it to tell me what it was, and as flaky/artsy as that sounds it’s true. When we allow things to take shape and roll with it, instead of trying to mold our own way through life it opens up an awesome place for God to speak to us and through us. I was reminded of a lesson God has taught me years ago in trying to learn how to pray for people in my life-and at times realizing that person was me! He showed me these words one on top of another with arrows pointing the next one…
**BELIEF ➡️ THOUGHTS ➡️ EMOTION ➡️ ACTION**
Now, because I am a creative God speaks my language to me and shows me things in a very visual manner so in my journal I drew belief as a seed, thoughts a rooting/germinated seed emotion is what we see come above ground and action is the fruit it bares.
So the question isn’t what kind of fruit are you bearing, but what kind of root system do you have? Is it rooted in the truth of who God says you are?
We must examine what it is we believe about ourselves and God. Allowing God to remove the lying roots and replace with the new life- the truth of knowing who God is and in turn who that makes you. God is always most invested in our transformation and that takes place in our root systems..the ones under ground that no one sees. As people we tend to focus on what the eye sees, our production, what fruit we are bringing, when God’s hand is wanting to work a deep work within our root system, aligning us with who He has made us to be each in our own unique giftings, personalities at this time and place in life.
